06/25/2025, 09:40Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliyev, as part of his participation in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum «Summer Davos 2025», spoke at a panel session on «Where is the Belt and Road Initiative heading?».
The Prime Minister noted that in the current environment, when the modern world is fraught with crises and challenges, geopolitical differences, international tensions and uncertainty, the Belt and Road Initiative remains a sought-after international platform for cooperation.
«Exactly 12 years ago, the Belt and Road Initiative confidently entered the international arena and began to draw a huge number of countries into its orbit. Many countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic, which was among the first to support it and then became an active participant, have already felt the enormous benefits of this global initiative», — he said.
During his speech, the Prime Minister outlined ideas for the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and Kyrgyzstan's role in it, which are based on five areas.
The first is transport connectivity.
«We are ready to use our geographical advantages and transit potential to become a key logistics hub connecting the regions of Asia and Europe. In this sense, the construction of new transport routes along the Belt and Road is a key factor in the development of connectivity in the Eurasian space», — he said.
The second factor is trade and economic cooperation. In the current environment of challenges and opportunities, close trade and economic cooperation based on trust, fairness and mutual benefit is the foundation for stable progress.
Kyrgyzstan, with its great investment potential, can and is ready to act as a ‘window’ for foreign investors, including Chinese companies, to enter the markets of the EAEU and the European Union.
Adylbek Kasymaliyev emphasised the importance of the third area of cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative: financial cooperation.
The introduction of effective financial instruments capable of supporting large-scale projects within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative is particularly relevant.
He noted the active development of Kyrgyzstan's financial sector, including the capital market.
Digitalisation and innovation are important areas for the further development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Kyrgyzstan actively supports the development of the Digital Silk Road.
Adylbek Kasymaliyev noted that today in Kyrgyzstan more than 90% of services are provided to citizens online. The High-Tech Park is operating successfully, with the most favourable conditions created for its residents.
The head of the Cabinet identified energy as the fifth area of cooperation, within which large-scale energy projects are planned to be implemented in Kyrgyzstan.
