Investments from EAEU countries in Kyrgyzstan grew to 53%

The volume of foreign direct investment from the Eurasian region to Kyrgyzstan has increased significantly. According to the EDB, from 2020 to the first half of 2025, growth amounted to 53%.

According to the data presented, the total volume of investment during this period grew from $1.57 billion in 2020 to $2 billion in 2023, and in the first half of 2025 reached $2.41 billion.

It is noted that the growth rate of investment in Kyrgyzstan is significantly higher than the average for the Eurasian region. For comparison, in other countries of the region, growth was about 16%.

The key investor countries remain the states of the region:

  • Russia — 79% of all investments
  • Kazakhstan — 10%
  • Uzbekistan — 10%

Investments are distributed across several sectors of the economy. The largest share is in the raw materials sector, trade, transport and logistics, electric power, and manufacturing.

Among the largest projects implemented with the participation of investors from the Eurasian region are:

  • Development of the Jerui gold deposit
    Investor — Russian Platinum (Russia).
    Investment volume — $600 million.
  • Purchase and modernisation of the infrastructure of KyrgyzGas
    Investor: Gazprom (Russia).
    Volume: $510 million.
  • Purchase and expansion of Optima Bank
    Investor: Pioneer Capital Investment (Kazakhstan).
    Volume: $137 million.
