Work began in 2019 on the initiative of the Suu-Bash aiyl mak with the support of the Aga Khan Fund. The project budgeted over 49 million soms and purchased 3,000 metres of pipes, cement and reinforcement bars. However, the project was suspended due to land disputes.
Later, on the instructions of the president, the reconstruction received state support, and in 2022, construction was resumed in stages.
To date, 3,300 metres of the canal have been reinforced with concrete and 3,284 metres of pipes have been installed. Work is also underway to install pipes for culverts and build five drainage structures. Full completion of construction is scheduled for November 2025.
The renovation of this canal plays an important role in solving the problem of providing irrigation water to farmers in the Batken region.
