09/28/2026, 18:14The BRICS countries are developing projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, fusion energy, space, biotechnology and digital payments. This is reported in a feature by TV BRICS.
Among the most notable developments are the Chinese quantum computer ‘Zhu Chongzhi 3.0’ and the BEST fusion reactor project, which is referred to as the ‘artificial sun’. It is scheduled to be launched in China in 2027.
India is developing satellite technology, lunar programmes and personalised medicine. As part of the Genome India project, scientists have already sequenced the genomes of 10,000 of the country’s residents. Experts also highlight India’s UPI fast-payment system.
Russia is represented by developments in the fields of quantum computing, nuclear energy, medicine and AI. In 2025, Russian scientists completed testing of a 50-qubit quantum computer.
Brazil is focusing on renewable energy and biofuels. Promising projects include the production of eco-friendly aviation fuel from ethanol and macawba palm.
Other member countries are also developing specific technological areas: South Africa — radio astronomy; the UAE — smart cities and water desalination; and Ethiopia — the digitalisation of agriculture.
TV BRICS notes that pooling the bloc’s scientific and technological capabilities could strengthen cooperation in the fields of AI, payment systems, space, energy and medicine.
