The Cabinet of Ministers has amended the rules governing the stay of foreign nationals in Kyrgyzstan

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has approved amendments to the procedure governing the stay of foreign nationals within the country. The relevant Resolution No. 190 was signed on 24 March 2026 and amends the existing document dated 10 October 2023. The new regulations are aimed at streamlining migration procedures and will come into force 10 days after their official publication.

Among the key changes is a clarification of the rules for regularising the status of ethnic Kyrgyz and their family members. If they exceed the permitted duration of stay without the necessary documents, they are granted a single-entry permit for up to 30 working days to regularise their legal status upon confirmation of their ethnic origin. The right of foreign nationals who have entered under the visa-free regime to apply to the competent authorities for residence documents has also been enshrined.

Separate provisions relate to simplified entry and visa procedures. In particular, provision is made for the possibility of obtaining short-term visas for up to 7 days via Manas International Airport or an electronic portal, subject to an application from licensed gambling establishments. In addition, the conditions for visa-free stays for organised tourist groups from China, as well as for residents of the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, have been clarified, including restrictions on extending stays except in cases of force majeure.
