What does the capital's DEPO-2 look like after reconstruction and fleet renewal?

Bishkek has completed the modernisation of one of its key urban transport infrastructure points — the DEPO-2 bus depot, which has been in operation since 1971. Following a complete renovation this year, the facility has been transformed into a modern technological centre equipped with everything necessary to service the new generation of public transport.

The upgrade was based on a focus on environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions. DEPO-2 now services modern electric buses developed by the Chinese company Anhui Ankai Automobile Co., Ltd. These vehicles are designed for eight years of operation, and the manufacturer recycles the batteries at its own expense, which reduces the environmental impact.

For convenience and to speed up the work of charging stations, connections are provided on both sides of the vehicle, allowing more vehicles to be serviced simultaneously and reducing downtime.

A driver training centre has also been set up at DEPO-2, where a public transport simulator is used. It allows real-life traffic situations to be simulated and staff skills to be improved without risk to passengers.

Electric buses are already running on city routes, gradually replacing the old diesel fleet. This is a step towards a new standard of urban transport — safe, technological and environmentally friendly.
