Kasymaliyev and ADB Director Leia Gutierrez discussed the implementation of the Kambarata HPP-1 project

Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliyev held a meeting with Leah Gutierrez, Director General of the Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The Prime Minister noted that the ADB is one of Kyrgyzstan's key partners and expressed his gratitude to the bank for its long-standing support for the country's socio-economic development. He emphasised Kyrgyzstan's interest in attracting investment for the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1, the Barskoon-Bedel motorway and the programme to provide the population with affordable housing.

Kasymaliyev also reported on the country's high economic growth rates. On average, GDP growth over the past three years was 9%, and in January-July 2025, it was 11.5%. He informed the ADB representative about the key areas of the National Development Programme until 2030, which prioritises industrialisation, the development of green energy, agriculture, tourism and the formation of Kyrgyzstan as a regional hub.

Special attention was paid to the Kambarata HPP-1 project, for which the feasibility study has been updated, an environmental impact assessment report has been prepared, and work is underway on an intergovernmental agreement.

Lea Gutierrez, in turn, emphasised that the ADB is proud of its 30-year partnership with Kyrgyzstan and is ready to continue supporting initiatives aimed at developing key sectors of the country's economy.

The upcoming visit of ADB President Masato Kando to Kyrgyzstan in November is expected to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation.

On 10 September, Kasymaliyev also held a meeting with World Bank Regional Director Najib Benhassin.
