09/16/2025, 15:18On 15 September, the Ministry of Finance held public budget hearings on the draft republican budget for 2026 and the plan for 2027–2028. The meeting was chaired by Minister of Finance Almaz Baketaev and brought together representatives of government agencies, civil society and the media.
Opening the hearings, the minister noted that such events play a key role in ensuring the transparency and effectiveness of the budget process. He emphasised that such hearings allow public opinion to be taken into account when determining key budget priorities.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy presented forecasts for key macroeconomic indicators, while experts from the Ministry of Finance presented the draft budget itself.
The main topics of discussion were healthcare and social protection spending. These issues sparked lively debate, during which participants pointed to the need to clarify a number of items and set priorities in healthcare funding.
Following the hearings, Baketaev instructed that the draft be revised to take into account the comments and suggestions of the participants. The ministry noted that it is ready to continue open dialogue and cooperation in forming the budget for the coming years.
