09/18/2025, 11:41A meeting between Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev and Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Takehiko Matsuo took place in Tokyo yesterday. The talks were held as part of the Second Ministerial Dialogue on Economic and Energy Issues between Central Asia and Japan.
The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields of hydropower, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. Separate discussions were held on low-carbon development and training for the energy sector.
Kyrgyzstan expressed its gratitude to Japan for its support for projects and stated its readiness to deepen the partnership. In response, Japan confirmed its interest in expanding cooperation. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify joint work on priority areas of energy cooperation.
