Kyrgyzstan imports five times more goods than it exports

In January–July 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover reached $10.0 billion. Compared with the same period last year, the figure rose by 7.7 per cent.

The bulk of the trade volume is accounted for by imports. Imports accounted for 83.4% of foreign trade, or $8.3 billion. Exports amounted to $1.7 billion, representing 16.6% of the trade volume. Imports rose by 8.7 per cent, whilst exports increased by 2.7 per cent.

Separate statistics show trade with EAEU member states. Over the seven-month period, mutual trade with them totalled $3.7 billion, an increase of 5.4 per cent. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan’s exports to EAEU countries fell by 2.0 per cent, whilst imports from them rose by 7.2 per cent.

Russia accounted for 65.1 per cent of Kyrgyzstan’s trade with EAEU countries, whilst Kazakhstan accounted for 32.4 per cent. Trade with third countries, i.e. countries outside the EAEU, totalled $6.3 billion and rose by 9.1 per cent over the year.
