06/19/2026, 09:00Kyrgyzstan hopes to join the Islamic Corporation for Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC). This issue was discussed by Nurbek Akzholov, Deputy Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, and Dr Khalid Khalafalla, Director-General of the Corporation, during a meeting on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Baku.
The parties reviewed the process of the republic’s accession to the international organisation. It is noted that the ICIEC Board of Governors will consider Kyrgyzstan’s application for membership in the near future.
Following the meeting, the participants expressed their confidence that joining the corporation would expand opportunities to attract investment, support the development of the country’s export potential and strengthen international economic cooperation.
It is also reported that a delegation from the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credits is expected to visit Kyrgyzstan in 2026. Representatives of the organisation plan to hold consultations and explain the mechanisms for interaction within the framework of future cooperation.
The ICIEC is part of the Islamic Development Bank Group and is involved in insuring investment and export risks in member countries.
