08/31/2026, 12:25Kyrgyzstan is keen to increase exports of domestically produced goods, particularly agricultural produce, to the Chinese market. This was stated by Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev whilst discussing the economic agenda of the talks between the leaders of the two countries.
According to the Foreign Minister, China remains one of Kyrgyzstan’s most important trading partners; however, the current level of cooperation does not fully realise the available potential.
During the visit, bilateral agreements were signed aimed at expanding trade and commercial cooperation. Kulubaev also mentioned cooperation in the area of quality control and safety requirements for mutual trade.
The minister linked the development of trade to improvements in transport infrastructure. Kyrgyzstan is keen to increase the throughput capacity of border crossings, digitise customs procedures and reduce the time taken for goods to clear customs.
It is not specified exactly which categories of agricultural produce are planned to be supplied to China in additional quantities, nor the volumes involved.
According to data from the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan, trade turnover between the two countries for the first six months of 2026 exceeded $2.6 billion, accounting for 33 per cent of total trade. Of this, Kyrgyz exports amounted to $94.2 million. Compared with the same period in 2025, this represented a 50.9 per cent increase.
