Kyrgyzstan opens up frozen fruit exports to China without quarantine permits

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan has announced an expansion of export opportunities for domestic producers. The General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China has confirmed that Kyrgyz enterprises producing frozen fruit can now register to supply the Chinese market.

According to the guidelines, exports are permitted following registration in the GACC CIFER system. Furthermore, a separate quarantine permit, which is mandatory for fresh produce, is not required.

The list of authorised products includes frozen strawberries, raspberries, cherries, apples, pears and other fruits.

The authorised body on the Kyrgyz side is the Department of Plant Protection and Quarantine of Kyrgyzstan, which will oversee the enterprise registration process.

The Ministry recommends that producers step up their efforts to enter the Chinese market and has stated its readiness to provide advisory support to exporters.

It is expected that the simplification of procedures will enable an increase in exports of processed agricultural products and the diversification of supplies to foreign markets.
