Kyrgyzstan lags behind in the global AI race, with only 8% of active users

According to the Microsoft AI Diffusion Report, in the second half of 2025, the share of the population actively using generative artificial intelligence in Kyrgyzstan was 8.2%. Over six months, the indicator grew by only 0.7%, leaving the country behind the global average of 16.3%.

Among the EAEU and Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan leads with 13.7% of users (+1.1%), followed by Belarus with 8.4% (+0.8%) and Russia with 8% (+0.4%). Armenia (6.6%) and Uzbekistan (6.3%) continue to lag behind.

The world leaders in AI implementation are the UAE (64%), Singapore (60.9%) and Norway (46.4%). Even large economies such as the United States (28.3%) and Germany (28.6%) lag significantly behind the top of the ranking.

The low scores of Kyrgyzstan and its neighbours are due to limited digital infrastructure and insufficient digital literacy among the population. In reality, less than one in ten people in the country use AI at work, in their studies or in their daily tasks.

The popularity of generative AI continues to grow worldwide, with one in six adults already using the technology to create content, automate tasks or learn.
