03/10/2026, 16:38President Sadyr Zhaparov dismissed Minister of Emergency Situations Urmatbek Shamyrakanov after investigating information about possible bribery. This was reported by the press secretary of the head of state, Askat Alagozov.
According to him, the incident occurred when Shamyrakanov was deputy minister. In the summer of 2025, he allegedly demanded money from an employee of one of the departments in exchange for a promotion. The employee transferred half of the requested amount to an electronic wallet.
After Shamyrakanov was appointed minister, the employee said he could not transfer the rest of the money. Soon after, he was transferred to work in a department of the ministry in Batken. He then sent a complaint to the president.
On the instructions of the head of state, the case was investigated by the Prosecutor General's Office. According to Alagozov, the facts set out in the appeal were confirmed, after which Sadyr Zhaparov decided to dismiss the minister.
"This case is a vivid example of the saying that the truth will out sooner or later. Now it happens not in forty years, but in forty days. This should be a lesson for other civil servants," he said.
Kanatbek Chynybaev has been appointed acting Minister of Emergency Situations. His candidacy has been submitted to the Jogorku Kenesh for approval for appointment to the position of head of the department.
