Kyrgyzstan has almost tripled its furniture exports via Wildberries

Sales of furniture from Kyrgyzstan abroad via the Wildberries marketplace have risen sharply. The value of export sales has almost doubled, whilst the volume of goods shipped has almost tripled.

Russia remains the main export market. Shipments there have increased almost threefold in terms of the number of items. Significant growth has also been recorded in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Uzbekistan.

At the same time, domestic demand for furniture is also growing. Garden furniture has become the fastest-growing category, with sales increasing 1.8-fold. Kyrgyz consumers were particularly keen to buy garden tables, garden furniture sets and hanging chairs.

Demand for storage furniture is also growing steadily. Sales of chests of drawers increased 1.8-fold, wardrobes 1.6-fold, and shelving units 1.3-fold.

One of the main trends has been the creation of home workspaces. Sales of desks have increased almost tenfold, and computer desks 2.4-fold.

The fastest-growing export category has been office and retail equipment. Overseas sales of these products have increased almost fivefold in terms of the number of items.
Among the products most in demand abroad are display stands, furniture protectors, furniture jacks, orthopaedic cushions and skirting boards for worktops.

As noted by Alexander Vorobyov, director of Wildberries in Kyrgyzstan, furniture and fittings from Kyrgyzstan are becoming increasingly sought-after in CIS markets, and local manufacturers are gaining more opportunities to enter export markets.
