Kyrgyzstan invites British investors to mining and energy sectors

Kyrgyzstan is seeking British investment, particularly in the mining sector. This topic was one of the main ones discussed at a meeting between Kyrgyz Ambassador to the United Kingdom Ulan Dzhusupov and Lord John Alderdice, the United Kingdom's Trade Representative for Central Asia, which took place today in London.

The ambassador and Lord Alderdyce discussed ways to expand trade and investment between the two countries. Ulan Dzhusupov emphasised that Kyrgyzstan is interested in British capital and technology for its mining industry.

In addition, the country is looking for investors in green energy (especially in the construction of hydroelectric power plants), transport projects and agriculture.

The ambassador told the British representative about changes in Kyrgyzstan: taxes and customs are being simplified, the economy is going digital, the authorities are supporting business, and GDP is growing steadily. He also mentioned major projects such as the future China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the benefits for Kyrgyzstan of participating in the British DCTS trade programme (which simplifies exports to the UK).

Lord Alderdyce, who is responsible for promoting British business in the region, spoke positively about the dialogue between the countries. He assured that he was ready to help strengthen economic ties between Kyrgyzstan and the UK.
