11/28/2025, 12:52On November 26, Tashkent hosted the Third Economic Forum “European Union – Central Asia,” which brought together representatives of governments, international organizations, and the business community to discuss key areas of economic cooperation and the development of ties between the EU and countries in the region.
The Kyrgyz delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of strengthening interregional partnerships and expanding cooperation in areas such as the economy, green energy, transport, and subsoil use.
During the plenary session “Promoting Prosperity,” Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Iskender Asylkulov presented the country's experience in implementing an electronic queue management system for freight vehicles at border crossing points.
"The Kyrgyz Republic is consistently developing a transparent, predictable, and service-oriented customs administration system. The introduction of a domestic electronic queue at border crossing points has already proven to be highly effective—it has eliminated truck congestion and ensured orderly traffic flow through pre-registration, distribution in the waiting area, and strict adherence to the order of priority," he noted.
According to Asylkulov, this has made it possible to move from chaotic waiting to predictable and planned border crossings.
The deputy minister also added that the digitalization of trade processes is a strategic direction for Kyrgyzstan.
"Our country is consistently promoting paperless cross-border trade and strengthening regional cooperation, as evidenced by Kyrgyzstan's re-election as chair of the UN ESCAP Paperless Trade Council and the launch of a number of joint initiatives in Central Asia. The implementation of projects on electronic exchange of data, certificates, and trade documents creates the basis for faster, more transparent, and more secure trade processes," added Iskender Asylkulov.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan is ready to continue playing an active role in shaping a modern regional digital environment and promoting integration solutions.
During the forum, a bilateral meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Asylkulov and Vice President of the European Investment Bank Marek Mora. The talks, organized by the Trade Representation of the Kyrgyz Republic in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on promising investment projects in Kyrgyzstan. The EIB expressed interest in expanding cooperation and announced its intention to send a delegation to Bishkek in January 2026 to study the projects in detail and agree on further steps.
