Kyrgyzstan has secured $98 million in sovereign financing from international institutions over the past six months

Kyrgyzstan was among the largest recipients of sovereign financing among the member countries of the Eurasian Stabilisation and Development Fund (ESDF) in the first six months of 2026. The total amount of funding approved for the country stood at $98 million.

In total, between January and June 2026, international financial institutions, development agencies and climate funds approved $7.8 billion in sovereign financing for countries in the Eurasian region. EFSD member states accounted for $4.37 billion, or 55.4 per cent of the total.

Among the countries in the region, the largest amounts of funding were received by Kazakhstan – $3.22 billion, Pakistan – $1.38 billion, Armenia – $0.88 billion, Azerbaijan – $810 million and Uzbekistan – $690 million.

Kyrgyzstan ranked near the bottom among the largest recipients within the group of countries participating in the Fund. Apart from Kazakhstan and Armenia, Tajikistan received $160 million and Kyrgyzstan $98 million.

According to EFSR data, the total volume of approved sovereign financing in the Eurasian region since the beginning of 2008 has exceeded $300 billion.
