02/26/2026, 17:08A seminar was held in Moscow on the development of a unified approach to the regulation of halal products within the Eurasian Economic Union. The key topic of discussion was the draft agreement on the procedure for recognizing halal products, processes, and services, initiated by the Kyrgyz Republic.
It was the Kyrgyz side that proposed the development of a supranational mechanism for the recognition of halal in the Union — a document that should eliminate the fragmentation of standards, reduce barriers to mutual trade, and create transparent rules for business.
The event was attended by representatives of EAEU member states, experts, and employees of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The discussion took place at the Russian Quality System ANO.
Participants noted that the lack of uniform principles for assessing and confirming halal status creates additional costs for producers and exporters. At the same time, the global market for halal goods and services continues to grow rapidly, opening up prospects for EAEU countries to enter the premium markets of Islamic states.
Almaz Kayyrbekov, Director of the Halal Industry Development Center, presented the national experience in regulating the industry and emphasized Kyrgyzstan's readiness to scale up its achievements at the Union level.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in continuing work on the document, which will establish a unified approach to the recognition of halal products and will be a step towards the formation of a common halal market within the EAEU.
