Kyrgyzstan approves creation of Civil Protection Mechanism for Turkic States

Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law ‘On Ratification of the Agreement on the Establishment of the Civil Protection Mechanism of the Organization of Turkic States,’ signed on 6 November 2024 in Bishkek.

The document was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh on 24 September this year and sent for the completion of internal procedures necessary for the agreement to enter into force.

The agreement establishes the legal basis for the creation of the CCM of the TSO, which will serve as an instrument for coordinating actions between participating countries in the prevention and elimination of emergencies.

The mechanism provides for:

• the exchange of information and best practices in the field of civil defence;
• joint exercises and increased preparedness for emergencies;
• mutual assistance in the event of natural disasters, catastrophes and other crises;
• rapid response and support in dealing with the consequences of emergencies.

The creation of the Civil Defence Mechanism will enable the countries of the Turkic world to improve coordination and mutual assistance in the field of security and humanitarian response.
