Kyrgyzstan’s lorry imports rose by 14 per cent — South Korea emerged as the leading supplier

In January–May 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s imports of lorries increased by 13.9 per cent. Over the five-month period, nearly 11,000 lorries were imported into the country, worth around 13 billion KGS.

According to statistics from the National Statistics Committee, 10,999 lorries were imported into Kyrgyzstan between January and May 2026. This is 1,342 units more than during the same period last year, when 9,657 lorries were imported.

In monetary terms, imports rose even more significantly – to 12.97 billion KGS or $148.3 million. A year earlier, the value of imports stood at 8.67 billion KGS ($99.3 million). Thus, the value of imports increased by approximately 49 per cent.

The Republic of Korea remains the main supplier of lorries, with 5,391 vehicles worth 2.17 billion KGS. The number of Korean lorries rose by 31.7 per cent compared with last year.

China took second place. Over the five-month period, 3,490 lorries were imported from that country, worth 9.46 billion KGS. Compared with last year, deliveries rose by 52 per cent, whilst the value of imports increased 1.7-fold.

Other major suppliers included the Czech Republic (587 lorries), Germany (534 vehicles) and Lithuania (230 vehicles).

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan also actively increased its imports of vehicles, including commercial vehicles. The main sources of supply remain countries in Asia and Europe, with China occupying the leading position.
