Kyrgyzstan has entered the top five largest gold buyers in the world

Kyrgyzstan was among the largest buyers of gold in the fourth quarter of 2025. According to international statistics on central bank reserves, the country ranked fifth among the countries that most actively increased their gold reserves.

According to the World Gold Council, Kyrgyzstan's gold reserves increased by 5.17 tons during the reporting period. As a result, the country became one of the world's five largest buyers of the precious metal.

Poland led the way in terms of gold reserve growth, increasing its reserves by 34.87 tons. It was followed by:

  • Uzbekistan — +28.93 tons;
  • Brazil — +27.3 tons;
  • Kazakhstan — +16.68 tons;
  • Kyrgyzstan — +5.17 tons.

As a result, by the end of 2025, Kyrgyzstan's total gold reserves reached approximately 45.9 tons.

In total, three Central Asian countries — Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan — have accumulated 777.26 tons of gold. The largest gold holders in the region are Uzbekistan with reserves of 390.35 tons and Kazakhstan with 341.04 tons.

While a number of countries actively increased their gold reserves, some countries, on the contrary, reduced their reserves. The most notable gold sales were recorded in:

  • Ghana — 18.46 tons;
  • Singapore — 11.16 tons;
  • Russia — 3.11 tons;
  • Qatar — 770 kilograms;
  • Mexico — 10 kilograms.

It should be added that the growth in gold purchases by central banks reflects a global trend in recent years, with countries seeking to diversify their international reserves and strengthen financial stability by using gold as a defensive asset.
