Kyrgyzstan returns 44 tonnes of vegetables from Kazakhstan due to lack of phytosanitary certificate

The Department of Plant Protection and Quarantine under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry conducted a phytosanitary quarantine inspection at the "Sbornoy Post" checkpoint near the "Ak-Tileq" crossing point on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.

During the inspection, it was found that a consignment of agricultural products — 22 tonnes of carrots and 22 tonnes of beetroot — imported into the Kyrgyz Republic from Kazakhstan did not have the required phytosanitary certificate.

According to the requirements of the "Regulations on the procedure for carrying out quarantine phytosanitary control (surveillance) in the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union," these products are classified as high phytosanitary risk. In this regard, the cargo was returned to the sender.

The Department noted that such measures are aimed at preventing the spread of quarantine pests, plant diseases and other dangerous organisms, which directly affects the stability of agricultural production and food security in the country.
