By the end of 2024, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia reached $10.2 million, almost tripling compared to the previous year, when it amounted to a modest $3.8 million.
However, Mongolia's share in Kyrgyzstan's total foreign trade remains insignificant at 0.1%. Kyrgyzstan maintains a steady trade surplus with Mongolia. This direction remains one of the few where the republic consistently exports significantly more than it imports.
In 2024, exports to Mongolia grew 5.2 times, reaching $8.9 million, while imports fell by 40% to only $1.27 million.
The bulk of Kyrgyz exports consists of food and agro-industrial products. The most notable items are chocolate and confectionery products (almost $5 million), pasta (about $2 million), and dried fruits and nuts (about $1.6 million). In addition, animal feed, petroleum products, vegetables, grain products, canned meat, and even raw materials for the leather industry are supplied.
Imports from Mongolia, on the other hand, remain very limited and consist mainly of food and chemical products, namely cheese, tea, shellac, cosmetics and soap. The total value of these imports in 2024 amounted to just over $1 million.
In the first five months of this year, trade between the countries amounted to $3.1 million, indicating that the positive trend is continuing.
