In 2026, 17.68 billion KGS will be allocated to the project, in 2027 – 17.86 billion KGS, and in 2028 – 17.9 billion KGS. Thus, over three years, the total investment will amount to 53.44 billion KGS.
Work on the road leading to the Bedel checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border began on August 27 with the participation of President Sadyr Zhaparov. Two tunnels are planned to be built on the Sooch and Ashuu-Suu passes, with lengths of 5,340 and 3,840 meters, respectively. These are among the longest and most technically complex tunnels in the history of road construction in Kyrgyzstan.
In addition to the tunnels, the project includes the construction of bridges, avalanche protection galleries, and engineering structures to protect against rockfalls and mudflows. The total length of the road will be about 150 km. The construction involves 287 specialists and 162 units of special equipment.
The Barskoon-Bedel international road is considered a key element of the country's transport network. According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the new tunnels will help save travel time, improve traffic safety, and strengthen Kyrgyzstan's role as a regional transport and logistics hub.
