Kyrgyzstan has seen a decline in remittances from Russia and an increase from the United States

The volume of cross-border remittances sent by individuals to Kyrgyzstan in February declined compared to the same period in 2025. These figures are based on statistics from the National Bank.

According to the regulator, remittance inflows to the country in February totaled $224.2 million, whereas in February 2025 this figure reached $246.5 million. Thus, over the year, the volume of inflows decreased by $22.3 million, or 9%.

Russia remains the key source of remittances. It accounts for the overwhelming majority of remittances. In February, $200.8 million was sent from Russia to Kyrgyzstan, which is $29.3 million lower than last year’s level ($230.1 million in February 2025). At the same time, remittances from Kazakhstan, on the other hand, increased from $900,000 to $5.9 million.

Remittances from CIS countries, driven by Russia, make up the bulk of inflows, while inflows from countries outside the CIS remain significantly lower. In February, $16 million came into the country from these sources, which is 24% more than a year ago, when $12.9 million was sent.

The bulk of remittances from countries outside the CIS comes to Kyrgyzstan from the United States. In February of this year, $12.4 million was sent from the U.S. This is $2.3 million more than in the first two months of 2025.
