Kyrgyzstan launches pilot measures to support exporters

Danyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, chaired a meeting of the Export Development Council dedicated to developing practical solutions to boost the country’s export potential and support domestic businesses. The discussion was attended by heads of relevant government agencies and representatives of the business community.

One of the key decisions was the introduction of a pilot project to partially reimburse exporters’ transport and logistics costs, which should reduce the cost of production in foreign markets and increase the competitiveness of domestic goods. A preferential credit line, ‘Export Contract Financing’, was also introduced to cover cash flow gaps and replenish working capital against insurance guarantees.

The meeting took the form of an open dialogue: entrepreneurs were able to put forward proposals directly on improving customs administration and removing technical barriers. Following the meeting, Daniyar Amangeldiev instructed the relevant authorities to trial all initiatives on a pilot basis and, after assessing their effectiveness, to implement them on a permanent basis.
