On average, working Kyrgyz people spend between 445 and 472 minutes a day sleeping on weekdays, whereas on Sundays this figure rises to 499–503 minutes. In other words, people sleep about an hour longer at the weekend.
The country’s residents also devote more time to eating. On weekdays, they spend between 94 and 131 minutes eating at home and away from home, whilst on Sundays this figure rises to 101–126 minutes, depending on where they live.
Kyrgyz people also visit hairdressers, bathhouses and clinics more frequently at the weekend. On Sundays, this can take up to 12 minutes a day, compared to 1–4 minutes on weekdays.
At the same time, many people spend even more time on personal care on weekdays than at the weekend. Experts attribute this to preparing for work and a stricter daily schedule.
Overall, the data shows that the weekend remains a time for rest and recuperation for most Kyrgyz people: they sleep longer, eat more leisurely and devote more attention to household and personal matters.
