07/26/2026, 09:05The average monthly expenditure on food by residents of Kyrgyzstan in 2025 rose to 3,381 KGS per person, compared with 2,808 KGS a year earlier. These figures are provided by the National Statistical Committee in its survey on the standard of living.
On average, the proportion of household expenditure on food rose from 40 per cent to 44 per cent. This means that the share of expenditure on food within the structure of household consumption expenditure continued to grow.
The highest expenditure on food was recorded in Bishkek, where residents spent an average of 4,202 KGS per person per month. This was followed by the city of Osh, with an average of 4,222 KGS. Among the regions, Chui Region took the lead, with expenditure rising from 3,064 to 3,715 KGS.
The lowest expenditure on food remained in the Naryn Region — 2,152 KGS per person per month, despite an increase compared with the previous year.
At the same time, total average per capita expenditure also rose. Nationwide, it increased from 6,948 to 7,638 KGS per person per month.
The most significant increase in total consumer expenditure was recorded in Bishkek, where the figure rose from 7,899 to 9,434 KGS per person per month, and in the city of Osh – from 10,018 to 11,227 KGS. Among the regions, a significant increase was recorded in the Chui Region – from 6,979 KGS to 8,436 KGS.
The statistics show that, alongside the growth in incomes and consumer expenditure, Kyrgyz citizens’ spending on food is also rising, whilst in certain regions the proportion of such expenditure remains significantly higher than the national average.
