02/20/2026, 16:11Over the first 10 months of last year, Kumtor Gold Company transferred 203 million 328.8 thousand KGS to the budget for the use of water from Lake Petrova. This is stated in the company's report.
According to the information, between January 1 and October 31, 2025, the company used 2 million 33 thousand 288 cubic meters of water for industrial needs. The calculations were made in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The company notes that environmental control over water use remains one of the key areas of work. At the same time, a project is being implemented to gradually increase the supply of water from the quarry to the gold extraction plant. This should reduce the amount of water taken from Lake Petrova.
Interestingly, previously, when the mine was managed by the Canadian side (until May 2021), no fees were charged for water use. According to official data, in 2015 alone, the mine used over 5.5 million cubic meters of water from Lake Petrova.
