The Minister of Transport has instructed that the opening of a new checkpoint on the alternative North-South route be expedited

Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Transport and Communications Talantbek Soltobaev has instructed officials to expedite the opening of a new transport checkpoint on the alternative North-South highway. The decision was made following a meeting held on February 19.

The new checkpoint will be built on the north side of the existing Aral checkpoint in the village of Aral, Zhugal district. According to the ministry, the facility is intended to strengthen control over freight traffic.

As noted by the ministry, the launch of the checkpoint will improve road safety, ensure compliance with weight and size regulations, and reduce cases of overloading. The latter, according to experts, directly affects road wear and premature destruction of infrastructure.

The ministry emphasizes that the measures are also aimed at reducing illegal and excessive freight traffic and bringing order to the transport sector.

In addition to the construction of the new facility, the ministry plans to carry out a phased overhaul of existing transport checkpoints throughout the republic. Many of them have not been modernized for several years.

The construction and repair work is being financed by the Stabilization Fund of the President of the Republic.
