Kyrgyzstan to contribute capital to the IFC by 16 April

Kyrgyzstan has confirmed plans to finalise its participation in the capital increase of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) by 16 April 2026. This was announced following a meeting between Finance Minister Ruslan Suynaliev and IFC Regional Director Simon Andrews.

The decision to increase the country’s stake in the international financial organisation is seen as a signal of the country’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with global development institutions and expand access to investment resources.

During the dialogue, the parties also discussed improving the investment climate, developing public-private partnerships and implementing joint projects in the agricultural sector. IFC representatives noted the alignment of priorities with the Government of Kyrgyzstan and gave a positive assessment of the reforms being implemented.

The Kyrgyz side, in turn, reaffirmed its commitment to reducing administrative barriers, digitising public services and increasing transparency, which should create additional conditions for attracting private investment.

It should be recalled that on 21 April 2025, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev raised the issue of increasing the IFC’s capital; at that time, the corporation’s Vice-President for the Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Hella Sheikhrouh, announced the organisation’s readiness to invest over $130 million in projects in the renewable energy and water supply sectors.
