Kyrgyzstan discussed sanctions and the UN Security Council at the Munich Conference

In Munich, as part of the 62nd Munich Security Conference, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev held a series of strategic meetings. The talks focused on sanctions policy and promoting Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for the UN Security Council.

During the conference, Daniyar Amangeldiev met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman, and Minister of European Integration of Serbia Nemanja Starović.

Separate talks were held with US Special Presidential Envoy for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli and European Union Special Envoy for Sanctions David O'Sullivan.

The economic agenda also took centre stage. The Kyrgyz side discussed cooperation issues with European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde and European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Sikela. In addition, a meeting was held with former OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.

A key topic of the talks was cooperation in the area of sanctions policy, an issue that directly affects financial flows, foreign trade, and the investment climate today.

The promotion of the Kyrgyz Republic's candidacy for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for 2027–2028 was also discussed.
