The main focus of the meeting was on the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1, a strategic facility on which the future energy security and export potential of the republic largely depends. Daniyar Amangeldiev expressed hope that the IBR will become one of the key partners in the implementation of this mega-project, following the successful cooperation within the framework of CASA-1000.
“To date, preparatory work on the Kambarata HPP-1 has been financed from internal sources. The feasibility study and environmental impact assessment will be completed by the end of May 2025. Kyrgyzstan is counting on the IBRD's participation in the next stage,” Amangeldiev said.
The parties also discussed expanding the investment portfolio. The first deputy chairman supported the initiative to create a special technical group to coordinate the implementation of projects financed by the IBRD. In this context, attention was also paid to another major area—the construction of affordable housing. In 2024, Kyrgyzstan and the IBR signed a $79 million agreement, and the allocation of land for construction is currently being discussed.
IBRD President Mohammed Al-Jasser assured that the bank highly values its partnership with Kyrgyzstan and is ready to continue providing comprehensive support, especially in the areas of infrastructure and energy development.
