Preferential loans for gasification in Kyrgyzstan have been reduced to 3 per cent per annum

In Kyrgyzstan, the programme to connect households to the gas network is continuing to be expanded in order to improve air quality. One of the measures taken was to reduce the interest rate on subsidised loans for connecting to the gas network from 8% to 3% per annum.

As reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources at a board meeting reviewing the results of the first half of 2026, citizens can obtain a subsidised loan of up to 150,000 KGS to carry out gasification works. The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the relevant decree on 20 April 2026.

According to the ministry, 54 settlements in Bishkek have already been connected to the gas network, with 54,127 households connected, of which 33,000 homes have switched to gas heating.

The Ministry noted that, thanks to the implementation of the gasification programme, average annual coal consumption has been reduced by approximately 100,000 tonnes, which helps to reduce air pollution.
