Rulers and compasses are the top sellers among Kyrgyzstanis' school purchases on Wildberries

Preparations for the new school year in Kyrgyzstan have shown that parents are now much more likely to choose practical and useful items for school. Data from the Wildberries marketplace for the period from 1 July to 5 September reflects steady growth across a range of categories.

The main bestsellers were basic stationery items. Sales of notebooks grew by 66%, glue sticks more than doubled (+126%), and pencil sharpeners by 46%. Rulers (+1574%) and compasses (+1900%) from local sellers showed a real breakthrough. Textbooks (+1000%) and erasers (+559%) also made it into the top positions in terms of demand.

Clothing and footwear for schoolchildren remained the leaders among the major categories. Sales grew by 46% for girls and 43% for boys, and by two to three times for Kyrgyz entrepreneurs. The accessories market proved to be more diverse. Backpacks as a whole lost slightly in popularity (-5%), but demand for them jumped by 85% among local sellers, and demand for shoe bags more than doubled.

School supplies did not go unnoticed either, with sales of desks increasing by 108% and table lamps by 91%. In other words, parents are actively buying not only school supplies, but also investing in creating comfortable conditions for studying at home.

Interestingly, local retailers were able to quickly adapt to this demand by offering a range of products, from textbooks to accessories, which showed record growth rates.
