Miners paid 45.5 million KGS in tax — revenue fell by 14.5 per cent

Between January and July, the mining tax generated 45,479,900 KGS for the Kyrgyz budget. Compared with the same period last year, revenue fell by 7.7 million KGS.

In the corresponding period of 2025, miners transferred 53,177,000 KGS to the budget. Thus, revenue fell by 14.5 per cent over the year, according to reports from the Ministry of Finance.

However, payments have picked up noticeably over the last two months. Between January and May, the budget received only 21.1 million KGS in mining tax. Consequently, in June and July, a further 24.4 million KGS were received – more than in the first five months combined.

A regional breakdown shows that the bulk of the tracked revenue is linked to the Jalal-Abad region:

• Jalal-Abad Region — 29,725,900 KGS;
• Issyk-Kul Region — 43 KGS;
• Osh Region — 3,100 KGS;
• Chui Region — minus 19,900 KGS.

For the Naryn, Batken and Talas regions, as well as Bishkek and Osh, revenue under this heading is not reflected in the portal’s regional breakdown. The negative figure for the Chui region may be due to a refund of previously paid tax, a recalculation or an adjustment.

The Jalal-Abad Region accounts for 65.4 per cent of the total tax revenue received by the national budget. However, the regional breakdown does not account for the entire amount. A total of 29.75 million KGS could be traced by region and city, whilst the overall figure stands at 45.48 million KGS. 34.6 per cent of all revenue remains unaccounted for by regional statistics.

Although miners are located in various regions of the country, according to the law, the mining tax is paid in full to the national budget. The rate is 10 per cent of the amount charged for electricity.
