Kyrgyzstan's international reserves set a new historical record, exceeding $10 billion

Kyrgyzstan's international reserves have exceeded $10 billion for the first time in history. This was announced by the head of the Information Policy Service of the Presidential Administration, Dayirbek Orunbekov, on his Facebook page, citing the head of the National Bank.

“I want to share some good news. Today, our international reserves (gold and foreign exchange reserves) exceeded $10 billion for the first time in history. We have reached a double-digit figure. This is a huge achievement. We are starting to approach the level of large developed countries. Simply put, we have entered the ‘elite club’,” he wrote.

This amount is almost twice the size of the country's external debt. It allows us to fully protect the currency market from external shocks and covers imports for almost nine months.

We would like to add that in an interview with Akchabar, the head of the National Bank, Melis Turgunbaev, said that at the end of 2025, international reserves amounted to $8.6 billion. Thus, growth of 16.3% was achieved in January this year.
