06/16/2026, 12:32Bakyt Sydykov, Minister of Economy and Trade, has been appointed as the President’s Special Representative for Sanctions Policy and the Minimisation of Sanctions Risks.
The appointment was announced by Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev at a cabinet meeting. The relevant decree was signed by the President of Kyrgyzstan.
According to Kasymaliev, the decision was taken to protect national economic interests and strengthen coordination among state bodies on matters of sanctions policy. All departments have been instructed to carry out the special representative’s instructions in a timely manner and to provide the necessary information.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide diplomatic support and organise negotiations as part of its activities.
On 4 June 2026, President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a decree appointing Economy Minister Bakyt Sydykov as Special Representative for Sanctions Policy and the Minimisation of Sanctions Risks. The Cabinet of Ministers has now established the procedure for state bodies to interact with the new Special Representative.
