Against the backdrop of the SCO and the Nomads’ Games, Booking shows that 98 per cent of accommodation options in Bishkek are unavailable

For the night of 31 August to 1 September, Booking.com shows only 13 accommodation options in Bishkek for two adults. The service also warns that 98 per cent of accommodation options in this destination are unavailable for the selected dates.

These were the results of a search carried out on 31 August. When searching for accommodation from 30 August to 1 September – a two-night stay – the platform displayed two options in Bishkek and a message stating that 99 per cent of options were unavailable. However, as the check-in date for this search had already passed, accommodation options for 31 August were also checked to assess the current availability.

Despite the limited availability, some options remain in the search results. For example, two beds in a shared room at WakeUp Bishkek were offered at $26 per night for two adults. A double room at the Dream Hotel Djal was listed at $135, a standard triple room at the Kausar Hotel at $229, and a double room with breakfast at the Yunlang Business Travel Hotel at $500. The prices quoted included taxes and fees.

The high hotel occupancy rates may be linked to an influx of foreign delegations and visitors. Bishkek is currently hosting two major international events simultaneously – the SCO summit and the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, scheduled for 31 August.

Booking’s report that 98–99 per cent of listings are unavailable refers to the platform’s listings based on the selected dates and accommodation criteria. Some properties may not sell rooms through the service.

Thus, our check confirms the limited choice of accommodation on Booking during international events. Prices and availability are subject to change.
