Issyk-Kul may start organising training camps for athletes from Russia

Training camps for athletes from the Sverdlovsk Oblast may be organised on Issyk-Kul. This became known after a meeting between the Consul General of Kyrgyzstan in Ekaterinburg, Maksat Tentimishov, and the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk Region, Leonid Rapoport, which took place on 13 March 2025.

The discussion touched upon the issues of expanding bilateral co-operation in the field of sports. The Minister noted that the natural conditions of the Issyk-Kul region are ideal for athletes' training, especially in the “middle mountains”, which contributes to better results at competitions. The parties also discussed the possibilities of exchange of sports personnel.

In addition, the Minister invited the Kyrgyz football team to take part in the tournament to be held during the INNOPROM-2025 exhibition in July this year. The Consul General confirmed that an official invitation will be sent to the Kyrgyz Football Federation to participate in this tournament.
