10/31/2025, 14:35The Department of Fisheries reported on work being carried out to artificially produce Issyk-Kul trout caviar. The process was carried out in the incubation workshop of the Tonsky fish farm.
As part of the project, specialists selected 49 females and 26 males, from which 90,000 eggs were obtained. All the eggs were placed in special incubation devices, where they will undergo incubation until they develop into viable trout fry.
The work is being carried out as part of a programme to restore and increase the population of Issyk-Kul trout, one of Kyrgyzstan's valuable endemic fish species. Trout is not only an ecologically important species for the Issyk-Kul aquatic ecosystem, but also an economically significant resource for the region.
According to the department, artificial reproduction measures are aimed at restoring fish stocks, developing the fishing industry and preserving the country's biological resources.
The department emphasised that population restoration and rational use of aquatic biological resources remain priority areas of state policy in the field of aquaculture.
