A hospital worth 3 billion KGS is being built in southern Bishkek for patients with injuries

Construction has begun in the capital on the country's largest National Centre for Traumatology and Orthopaedics. The initiative is being implemented with the support of President Sadyr Zhaparov, and construction is being financed from the state budget, with 3 billion KGS allocated to the project.

According to Academician Sabyrbek Zhumabekov, trauma is the third leading cause of death in Kyrgyzstan, and the existing healthcare system is already insufficient. The new centre, with an area of 34,500 square metres, will consist of five blocks equipped with modern equipment, a helipad on the roof and convenient parking. The foundation is currently being completed, with around 100 workers on site.

The future hospital will have 500 beds and 11 departments, including intensive care, operating theatres, laboratories, rehabilitation and outpatient services. For the first time in the country, there will be a specialised sports injury department. The centre will also be equipped with MRI, ultrasound and other diagnostic equipment, and one of the key techniques will be arthroscopy, a minimally invasive treatment for joints. The facility is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026.
