10/19/2024, 15:56The National Statistics Committee (NSC) has held a meeting of the Council on Statistics, during which the issues of current activities and strategic directions of development of official statistics for the coming years were discussed.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the National Statistics Committee Baktybek Kudaibergenov. In his opening speech, he emphasised the key role of the NSC in providing objective and reliable data necessary for making balanced management decisions and developing public policies. He noted that the Committee actively collaborates with a wide range of users, contributing to building confidence in official statistics.
The meeting considered the results of the implementation of the medium-term programme of official statistics development for 2022-2026, implemented within the World Bank project ‘’Statistical System Modernisation‘’. Attention was paid to the following key areas: creation of the national statistical system and improvement of methodologies for collection and processing of data on different sectors of the economy; implementation of the electronic reporting system (AIS IST); active use of administrative data to reduce the burden on respondents; development of climate change indicators; results of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), as well as development of new platforms for dissemination of statistical information and professional development of the staff of the NSC.
Board members praised the results achieved, noted the significant progress of the NSC and asked questions on the submissions. They also gave recommendations on improving publications on the official website and social networks of the Committee and discussed the issues of continuity of experts' work and strengthening cooperation with government agencies. Among the proposals voiced at the meeting were ideas to open service centres for respondents of the National Statistics Committee.
