In 2025, the National Electric Grid increased the capacity of hundreds of transformers

Last year, the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan (NEGK) focused its efforts on increasing the capacity of distribution networks. A total of 645 transformers were installed and upgraded on 10/0.4 kV lines, with the main focus on increasing the throughput capacity of existing equipment.

On behalf of the Ministry of Energy, in preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2025-2026 and the implementation of reforms in the industry, the company installed 279 new transformers and increased the capacity of another 366 units of equipment.

Work to increase capacity and install transformers has been carried out at power grid companies throughout the country. The largest volumes were in the Osh (117 units), Jalal-Abad (113), and Batken (95) power grid enterprises. Significant work was also carried out in Bishkek (69), Naryn (77), Chui (77), Issyk-Kul (61), and Talas (36) regions.

NESK notes that the modernization of the transformer park is primarily aimed at reducing overloads in distribution networks, increasing the reliability of power supply, and ensuring the stable operation of the power system during peak loads.
