The National Bank is on course to set a new record. In just six months, it has earned almost as much as it did in the whole of 2024

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan could set a new profit record for the second year running. In the first half of the year, the regulator had already made 41 billion 505.1 million KGS — almost as much as it did in the whole of 2024.

Back then, the National Bank’s annual profit stood at 45.7 billion KGS, setting a record at the time. To match this result, the regulator is currently about 4.2 billion KGS short for 2026. In other words, in the first six months alone, it has already achieved nearly 91 per cent of its full-year 2024 target.

Moreover, if the current trend continues, the National Bank may even exceed the 2025 result, when profit reached a new high of 60 billion 734.7 million KGS. To achieve this, it will need to generate a further 19.2 billion KGS in the second half of the year.

This figure appears achievable given the results already achieved.

Compared with the first half of last year, profits have more than doubled. As at 30 June 2025, they stood at 19.5 billion KGS. Over the course of the year, the figure increased by almost 22 billion KGS.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, the National Bank generated 25.9 billion KGS. Consequently, in the second quarter, profits increased by a further 15.6 billion KGS or so.

It should be noted that last year’s profit has already been transferred in full to the state. On 25 February, the National Bank transferred it to the account of the Central Treasury of the Ministry of Finance. This follows President Sadyr Zhaparov’s signing, on 20 February, of a constitutional law obliging the regulator to transfer 100 per cent of its annual profit to the republican budget.
