The volume of banknotes issued by the National Bank has increased nearly 13-fold over the year

The volume of notes issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic reached 9.65 billion KGS by the end of 2025. By way of comparison, at the end of 2024, the regulator’s debt securities in circulation amounted to 747.1 million KGS. This is stated in the bank’s financial statements.

The bulk of the issue consisted of seven-day notes – 777.3 million KGS. In addition, the National Bank placed notes with a maturity of 91 days worth 5.45 billion KGS and 182 days worth 3.43 billion KGS. In 2024, securities with such maturities were not issued.

The increase in the volume of notes is linked to the implementation of monetary policy. By issuing its own securities, the National Bank regulates the volume of liquidity in the banking system and influences the money market.

The placement of notes is carried out through the regulator’s automated trading system, in which Kyrgyzstan’s commercial banks participate.
