About 200 enterprises and nearly 3,000 individual entrepreneurs were operating in the textile and clothing industry. The total number of employees exceeded 128,000. Production is concentrated mainly in the Chui region, as well as in Bishkek and Osh. Clothing accounted for the largest share of output, at 85% of the total, with textiles accounting for another 12%.
The product range includes more than 18 million items of women's outerwear, 5 million items of men's outerwear, 331,000 sweaters and jumpers, 12 million pairs of hosiery, and 4 million pairs of shoes. Most of the production is oriented toward foreign markets, including the EAEU countries.
A separate area is small-scale production of items with national character. In 2024, the republic produced 34,000 shyrdaks, 54,000 items of traditional clothing, and 9,000 kalpaks. Despite limited volumes, such products have high cultural and export value.
