Power outages have become one of the key causes of payment system failures

In July-September, 105 abnormal situations in the operation of payment systems were recorded in Kyrgyzstan. According to an analysis of payment system operators' reports, a significant portion of the failures were related to power supply issues.

According to the regulator, power outages accounted for 30.48% of the total number of abnormal situations, becoming one of the main reasons for disruptions in the acceptance of payments in favor of third parties. Thus, almost every third failure in the payment infrastructure was caused by power outages.

For comparison, failures in hardware and software systems and peripheral devices accounted for 14.29%, and problems with communication channels accounted for 10.48%. The largest share of incidents, 44.75%, was due to failures on the part of service providers.

The high proportion of power supply-related failures indicates the vulnerability of the payment infrastructure to the state of the power system, especially during periods of increased load. This is particularly relevant given the power outages in a number of regions of the country.

At the same time, as the regulator emphasizes, the recorded incidents did not lead to financial losses and did not have a negative impact on other participants in the payment services market.
